BMW ActiveE concept revealed at the Detroit auto show last year. New on ActiveE production vehicle is the hood bulge to accommodate the 32 kWh battery, toned-down (but standard) graphics, and interior changes slightly.

The ActiveE BMW is being billed by the company as an electric vehicle with no compromises. A zero emission vehicle exhaust theoretically mean zero guilt, but you still get the same luxurious interior and driving experience is somewhat similar to the BMW brand is known.

Performance-wise, ActiveE can accelerate from 0-60 in less than 9 seconds, which is equivalent to Leaf Nissan, maybe even slower. 00-60 Nissan did not provide statistics for the vehicle, but independent testing by the Green Car Adviser Leaves 00-60 hours in 7 seconds.

The car is based on the 1-Series, but under the hood ActiveE is a 32-kWh electric motor that provides 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. A 7-kW on-board fast charger 240-volt battery charging with an active thermal management must consistently provide 100-mile range is expected regardless of the weather.
